'This n' That' nails

Howdy Folks!

Today I have a manicure that I like to call 'This n' That'.  Why you ask??? Well because I don't know the proper name for it.   I don't even know if I want to know ;o)  I think 'This n' That'  is pretty fine and dandy.

I really like just messing around on my nails and trying different things.  This manicure gave me the option to have a little fun with it and do each nail different.
I once again used Sally Hansen Salon Effects that I picked up cheap at the CNE for my base.  They are all older colours but I'm still a fan!  This colour is 'Teal With It'.
The beige colour is Revlon's 'Elegant'.  I'm all over the beige and taupe fall colours right now.   Although I would not wear it on it's own it's great with other colours. I can't think of one colour it wouldn't compliment other than pale yellow or orange. (my opinion :P)  It looks absolutely fabulous with bright colours.
The black is just the cheapo nail polish I picked up from Urban outfitters.  Any fine black lines in there are with the handy dandy striping tape.

What do you guys think of my 'This n' That' nails????

31 Day Challenge: Purple (a day late)

Yes I know ....I'm a day late.  In my defence though it was a long weekend. I had no idea until I saw Kimber's.  eeeeeks!  So I ran home and did up this look. Thank goodness my nails were already purple.

When at the CNE in Toronto I picked up some Sally Hansen Salon effects strips(see below!).   I had on 'Violet Night'.  This was a time saver when doing my nails last night.   The other two colours used in this mani are Sally Hansen X-treme Wear in 'Lacey Lilac' and Revlon's 'Impulsive'.

I promise not to miss another day challenge!

I wanted to add a couple pictures of my visit to the CNE.  This is just one booth that had nail polish......one!  There was a ton of these.  Thousands and thousands of nail polish there.  Unfortunately I went on the last weekend so they were pretty much just grandma colours left.  Some fun colours but nothing I thought I would want.   One booth did however have Sally Hansen Salon Effects.  I decided to pick up some of those and one double pack of Borgese nail polish and top coat.  6 for $20.00...you can't go wrong ;)

Random lip gloss in there  :oP

My only nail purchase

Make sure to check out the other ladies participating in the 31 day challenge.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.  The three 'R's we all learned about in public school.  I can do the reuse and recycle but the reduce????....I don't think so.

For this manicure I started of with 2 coats of  Rimmel's Lasting finish pro in Stilleto Red.  I love the shape of the brush and the polish goes on so smoothly.  I originally bought this for a bachelorette party last year and am now on my second bottle. I love the shine it keeps.
For the strips I cut up an old dried out Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strip in 'Blue Ice'

For once my camera was able to capture the sheen on a nail polish. Unfortuantely it didn't capture the sparkle of the strips.  They were glittering like a Christmas tree :o)

Friday Night Crazies

So instead of going crazy at a pub tonight I figured that I would go crazy on my nails......VOILA!

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in 'Sun Kissed' and 'Pacific Blue'.  The strips are old Sally Hansen Salon Effects in 'Check, Please!' I had one or two of these strips left over from an old manicure. They had dried and become pretty useless.  I've kept all my left overs for these purposes though.  All I do is add a bit of top coat and stick the strip on top.  Easy Peasy and very cheesy!!!

Sunday Morning Inspiration

I woke up this morning knowing I'd have a long day ahead of me.  Chances were I wouldn't be able to play around with my nails in the evening. So at 7:30a.m.  I sat down at the table and decided to try something a little fun.  I took three objects that were already on the table and tried to recreate them on my nails.  The key word here is 'tryyyyy'.  Keep in mind I am still an amateur at nail art.  Although I may not be proud of them all I thought I should at least share.
My objects were.....an earring, a yellow note pad and a can of A&W Diet Rootbeer.

The pop can was probably the most successful.  I started with two coats of Quo by Orly in 'Steel Heart'.  I then used Essie's Luxeffects in 'Set in Stones' to get the bubble effect.

For the note pad I used 3 coats of Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in 'Mellow Yellow'. For the blue lines I used a small tester bottle. Only info I have on it is that it's by Quo :oP

The last attempt kind of disappointed me.  It had a lot of possibility but I think by that time I was more concentrated on getting ready for the day.  I promise to make up for this one....eventually

If anyone ever has any advice please don't hesitate to lay it on me. I'm up for constructive criticism

Salon effects + mobile blogger

I thought I would try writing a post from my android phone. This probably will never happen again so I figure the earlier I do it in my blog the less judgement I will receive.  :)
In the photo below which I hope shows up is Sally Hansens Salon Effects in 'Running Wild'. This is from the Avril Lavigne collection. I don't believe they are in stores any longer. I have to admit she had some pretty cool designs

Anniversary Nails

Today is my 1st Anniversary to my sometimes wonderful husband Scott :oP

I was just planning on doing something subtle.  I decided on using my Sally Hansen Salon effects in Raise a Glass. It went well with my dress and was not too much.  I got a little bored during the evening so decided to play just a little bit.  I added some dots in Essie's go overboard and decided to stop there.

My dress is in the background so I thought it matched ok

For my anniversary present my husband allowed me to have a little fun. I made a cute pink flower and told him he at least has to wear it the whole day. To my surprise he accepted!

This was taken by my phone so it's not very clear.  You get the idea though :oP
