Nicole by Opi in "Baby" blue(Justin Bieber line)

I thought I would share this swatch.  I picked up this colour because I haven't been able to get Essie's Bikini so Teeny.  Apparently this polish is by Justin Bieber :os  I thought that was quite amusing and almost did not buy it for that fact.  lol  This took four coats! I had a hell of a time applying it.  I will probably only ever use it for water marbling. Either it was a bad bottle or just bad polish. I generally like Nicole polishes so it was disappointing

Ode to Maria's Nail Art

I thought I would do an ode to my first follower! I came across her blog and loved everything she did.  Her 'about me' is what really grabbed me as I felt I knew here already. As well she seems to be an animal lover just like me! She's been so great with questions and how to figure out and use blogger.  Although I'm not very good at flag art I was pretty lucky that Denmark has an easy flag.  So here is to Maria's Nail Art! http://mariasnailpolishblog.blogspot.ca/

(Finnegan is in the background so even if my flag is not impressive the dog is ;o))

Black with Pink and Sparkle Polka Dots

So I had a little more fun with polka dots.  This is basically the only real free hand nail art I can do.  I’m slowly learning but I think even if I could do more my fav would still be polka dots. We have a long running history ;o)

I used Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in ‘Satin Black’.  I only needed two coats in this.  This is the best black polish I’ve ever used(so far). I’m having troubles using it with stamping though.

(Casey & Finnegan in the background)

Next I added larger dots in Essie’s ‘ Bachelorette Bash’

Lastly I made smaller dots in  a sparkle polish I picked up at Urban Outfitters.   Not sure if it has name :oP

(outdoors)

I took a picture indoors as well as it showed off the sparkle a little more.  The pictures don't really do it justice though

Sunday Morning Inspiration

I woke up this morning knowing I'd have a long day ahead of me.  Chances were I wouldn't be able to play around with my nails in the evening. So at 7:30a.m.  I sat down at the table and decided to try something a little fun.  I took three objects that were already on the table and tried to recreate them on my nails.  The key word here is 'tryyyyy'.  Keep in mind I am still an amateur at nail art.  Although I may not be proud of them all I thought I should at least share.
My objects were.....an earring, a yellow note pad and a can of A&W Diet Rootbeer.

The pop can was probably the most successful.  I started with two coats of Quo by Orly in 'Steel Heart'.  I then used Essie's Luxeffects in 'Set in Stones' to get the bubble effect.

For the note pad I used 3 coats of Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in 'Mellow Yellow'. For the blue lines I used a small tester bottle. Only info I have on it is that it's by Quo :oP

The last attempt kind of disappointed me.  It had a lot of possibility but I think by that time I was more concentrated on getting ready for the day.  I promise to make up for this one....eventually

If anyone ever has any advice please don't hesitate to lay it on me. I'm up for constructive criticism

Clearance Bin Score!

I had to run out today to get a few things a Shopper's Drug Mart.  Of course I had to take a quick stroll through the nail polish isle.  I was very proud of myself for not picking anything up.  This is something new to me. ;o)
I was pretty proud of myself standing in the line up holding just what I came for....and then....out of the corner of my eye......I spotted it.....the clearance bin.  I couldn't help myself so I went to take a look see.  Quo by Orly for $3.00! Usually it runs ten bucks a bottle.  Thank goodness for my mom being there or else I wouldn't of stopped at three.  Below are two of my three picks.
The first one is Quo by Orly in 'The Blue Box'.  The second is Quo as well in 'Tease'.  I was really impressed by both of these polishes

I decided to add a little fun to the blue.  I stamped it using a Nailene stamping plate.  I'm not a fan of Nailene's but I love the image.  It was actually the first time it worked so well for me.  That's not to say there wasn't pieces missing though.

I'll be getting new Konad stamping plates in the mail soon. Be preparded for lots and lots of stamping photos!

p.s.  That's my 9 month 75lbs puppy in the background ;o)

Salon effects + mobile blogger

I thought I would try writing a post from my android phone. This probably will never happen again so I figure the earlier I do it in my blog the less judgement I will receive.  :)
In the photo below which I hope shows up is Sally Hansens Salon Effects in 'Running Wild'. This is from the Avril Lavigne collection. I don't believe they are in stores any longer. I have to admit she had some pretty cool designs

Do It Yourself Caviar Nails!

Caviar or fishy egg nails seem to be the big buzz in nail art right now.  It's not something I would buy as a set.  However the other day when I was going to pick up some dog treats at my local dollar store I came across a package of micro beads. Seeing they only cost a $1.00 I thought I would give it a shot.

What you’ll need:
Microbeads
Small bowl to catch excess beads
Base & top coat
Nail colour of your choice
Cotton swab

Package of 6 glass viles of microbeads -ONLY 1 DOLLAR!

First I applied my base coat and one coat of Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Purple Potion.

I then applied my second coat and right away poured the microbeads on.  I had to turn my finger as I poured to make sure that they attached on the sides.  (sorry for the blurry picture. I only had one chance at capturing it)

Then I just patted them down to make sure they were secure Next I used my cotton swab to remove any excess beads around the cuticles and sides of nails.

Last step was to apply a bit of top coat to the tip of my finger nails.  I did this to make sure they were extra secure at the tip.  I suppose you could put it all over the nail but I think it would take away from the overall effect. Surprisingly they stayed on better than expected.

I used Essie's top coat No Chips Ahead for the tip of the nails

A couple strays came off here or there but other than that I was quite impressed.  I didn’t think this look was for me but the more I played around with them the more I liked it.   For just a dollar I suggest anyone to try it out.

I used Revlon nail laquer in Posh for this attempt
